Brandywine Nurseries serves commercial and residential clients, large and small, and customizes our services to the needs, desires, and budget of each. Brandywine Nurseries is one of the largest landscape contractors in Delaware, and the oldest one continuously family-owned and operated. Our family management guarantees personal service and attention to detail. These attributes have built us our reputation for excellence. Our staff includes experts certified in landscape design, landscape installation, pesticide application, and sediment and erosion control. Our executives have served in leadership roles in the industry, locally and nationally, including: President, Delaware Contractors Association; President, Delaware Association of Nurserymen; President and Founder, Delaware Grounds Management Association; Senator, American Nursery and Landscape Association; President, National Landscape Association; and Director, Association of Professional Landscape Designers. Joseph and Margaret Jamison Joseph Jamison acts as Chief Executive Officer, supervises the Lawn Maintenance Division, and plays a major role in the daily company management. Before establishing Brandywine Nurseries, formerly Joseph F. Jamison, Inc. - Landscape Contractor, in 1946, Joseph served as Forester for the City of Wilmington. In addition to his extensive experience, he received advanced education at the Bartlett Tree School (Connecticut), Wharton School (University of Pennsylvania), University of Delaware, and the O.M. Scott Lawn Institute (Ohio). Joseph served in the First Cavalry Division of the U.S. Army. In 1995, he was inducted into the Delaware Association of Nurserymen's Hall of Fame. Margaret Jamison held the
positions of Executive Secretary and Treasurer. Margaret managed the daily operation
of the company through office staff supervision, accounting, marketing, job
costing, and record keeping. Margaret joined her husband at Brandywine
Nurseries in 1949. Prior to that she worked at Hercules as a private
secretary to a vice president. She received her secondary education from the
College of New Rochelle in New York and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in
Business Administration and Accounting. Margaret had also received
certificates from Longwood Gardens in Ornamental Horticulture. To our great
sorrow Margaret passed away on June 2, 2004 Joseph (Jamie) F. Jamison, Jr. Jamie Jamison has over 25 years experience in the landscaping industry and has been in the family business since 1976. Jamie serves as President in charge of Environmental and Site Management Services. In addition to his years of experience, he attended Wesley College, University of Dallas, and Rutgers University-Cook College. He is recognized as an expert in the turfgrass industry and has been interviewed on the television news and published in trade journals. In 1994, he lectured at the American Association of Nurserymen's Management Clinic. Jamie is a Past President of the Delaware Association of Nurserymen and part of the team that designed and implemented the Delaware Certified Nursery Professional Program. He currently serves nationally on the Board of Senators and the Horticultural Standards Committee of the American Nursery and Landscape Association. He also is a founding member and President of the Delaware Grounds Management Association. In 1995, the National Landscape Association elected Jamie its Region II Director. He became President of the National Landscape Association in the year 2000. Locally, Jamie serves on the New Castle County Vocational Technical Advisory Council, The Delaware Water Resource Coordinating Council and The Governors Drought Advisory Committee. The Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control has acknowledged Jamie as a Certified Stormwater Management Construction Reviewer and Certified Sediment and Erosion Control Specialist. He is also a Certified Pesticide Applicator. Brien H. Jamison Brien Jamison has over twenty years of landscaping experience and became a full-time executive of Brandywine Nurseries in 1976. Brien serves as President in charge of all Landscape Services, and has established himself as a local and national leader in the landscaping and contracting industries. Landscape operations include the Lawn and Landscape Management and Bid / Build divisions. Brien is a Past President of the Delaware Contractors Association and the first Merit Shop contractor to hold the position; currently, he serves on their Executive Committee. He has also served on the Small Business Committee for the State Chamber of Commerce and committees with the Associated Builders and Contractors of Delaware. Brien has gained national recognition through representing the National Landscape Association, as an end consumer, on a committee to review and update the American Standard for Nursery Stock, published by the American Association of Nurserymen. In addition to Brien's years of experience, he graduated from Delaware Valley College with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Ornamental Horticulture. He regularly attends continuing education programs to remain a leader in the industry.
